Are Topsites Advantageous? I believe all of us at one time or another have seen the banners "vote for us". What is this? What does it mean? How does it work? And is it advantageous to a website? Every Topsite has a particular objective or purpose. Their purpose is to advertise websites with the same particular product by using banners from individual website owners. A site owner places their banner on a topsite as another way to get noticed and to get more traffic. Topsites are very advantageous because potential customers who are browsing a particular theme would be very interested in your products by seeing your banner. All they would do is click on your banner and this will bring them to your website. Topsites bring more traffic to your website. Topsites usually rank very well in search engines. One of the keys to a successful website is to link to those sites that rank well. Topsites get 100's of clicks everyday so therefore you have the potential of getting alot of these clicks also. We do several things when we sign you up for a topsite - We type a detailed description of your site, upload your banner and your website address on the TopSite list. We place a voting banner code on your website's link page so you can earn votes and move up the list to be seen and get more traffic to your site. All this is very time consuming. If you do not have the time or would rather devote your time to your products, we have several packages for you to look at. Voting for your website gets your site boosted to the top position in the voting system. Remember to vote for your own. Usually you are allowed to vote once per day for your own site. I have no idea what a Plug is? A plug is a tiny banner. They are inserted on pages called plug boards such as banners are. The only difference is the more people that plug their site on a plug board the chances are greater for your plug to fall off the plug board. Included in our packages are offers to keep your plug situated on the plug board. What is a directory? An open directory depends on manual entry or listing. A short description is written of your entire site and then submitted to directories one at a time. Being listed in directories is vitally important because a search looks for matches only in the descriptions submitted. This is very time consuming so we have included submitting to directories in our packages. Why Should I Join A Search Engine? Getting listed in major search engines is the most important because they can potentially generate so much traffic. The spider or crawler visits your web page, reads it, follows links to your other pages and reads those too. The spider will return to your site every couple of months to look for changes. Everything the spider finds goes into the index. An index contains every web page the spider finds. Sometimes it takes awhile for new pages the spider finds to be added to the index. Until it is indexed, it is not available to those searching search engine. Sometimes it takes up to 6 months. One must be patient. By keep adding yourself to the search engines, the search engines will work the opposite and block you from the index. This again is very time consuming one done alone. How Spiders Relate to Meta Tags On each page of your site you have a place where you can enter a meta title, meta keywords and meta description. They are important to fill in so the spiders of the search engines will detect them and thus be able to put your site into search engines. Spiders are robots or crawlers that crawl the internet, grabbing content from sites and adding it to search engines. |
